A FINE 28-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED BLUNDERBUSS PISTOL SIGNED DALTON, registration no. DU1541,
circa 1780, with two-stage brass 10in. barrel, moulded and engraved band at the intersection and strongly flared banded cannon muzzle, engraved band at breech and solid iron top-tang, flat brass lock-plate signed 'DALTON', stepped borderline engraved tail, iron cock and frizzen, walnut full-stock carved around the top-tang with brass bulbous long-eared butt-cap, acorn finial to the brass trigger-guard, brass border-engraved oval escutcheon to wrist, smaller oval escutcheon integral with the rear side-nail cup, and brass mounted ebony ramrod

Other Notes: This pistol of a type often associated with naval officers is almost certainly by Edward Dalton of College Street, Dublin.
